He hasn’t had the best of luck in his film career recently, but Keanu Reeves is set to turn his attention to the small screen when he produces and stars in the action series Rain.
According to Deadline, Keanu Reeves is to star as a half-Japanese, half-American former soldier-turned assassin in a television series based on the best-selling books by Barry Eisner. A movie was made in 2009 based on the series called Rain Fall starring Kippei Shiina and Gary Oldman, but it belly-flopped.
According to the source material, Rain is a killer who will assassinate anyone as long as it doesn’t include women or children, no other team is working separately on the target and no family member or loved one will be harmed to send a message.
The production company behind the new show, Slingshot Media, are happy to have Keanu on board.
“We are extremely excited to be working on a beloved property with such a talented and hard-working actor as Keanu,” said Slingshot’s helmer Ellender.
Keanu is in need for a big hit and Rain may provide just that. The actor was the star of the hugely successful The Matrix and its sequels, as well as classics such as Speed, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Point Break.
More on Rain when we have it.
