Xbox One review round up

Check out what the media have to say about Microsoft’s next-gen console; in our Xbox One review round up.

Xbox One Console

“Looking forward more than it looks back, the Xbox One feels like it’s from the future”

The Inquirer score: 9.0.

The Xbox One is a great all-in-one entertainment machine. As well as offering top-end, next generation games the Xbox One features a host of enjoyable movie and music services. Combine this with its innovative Kinect 2 and Smartglass services and we can’t help but recommend it. In fact, our only qualm about the Xbox One is its solid but unremarkable lineup of launch titles. Hopefully, with Microsoft having already confirmed that it has made deals to secure over 100 exclusive games for the Xbox One, this concern will soon be rectified.”

Paste Magazine score: No score given.

“I’ve been comparing the Xbox One to the PlayStation 4 throughout this review because those comparisons are inevitable. They came out within a week of each other. The greatest thing they have in common, besides playing games, is the fact that there’s no reason to rush into buying one unless you are a diehard videogame fan who can’t wait for the next new thing.”

The Telegraph score: 4/5

“The dashboard is dynamic, easy to use and malleable enough that when more content becomes available, you can curate it how you wish. That initial wave of content, while certainly capable enough, doesn’t yet have the power to make the console a must-have, especially considering the chunky price tag. Currently an unessential luxury, then, but one with a bright future.

Polygon score: 8.0.

The Xbox One is an impressive marriage of software and hardware that raises the bar in terms of what we expect from a living-room machine. Looking forward more than it looks back, the Xbox One feels like it’s from the future.”
