According to reports, Sofia Coppola wants Emma Watson to play the lead role in her live-action version of The Little Mermaid.
It was announced last week that Sofia Coppola was taking up the directorial reins to make a live-action adaption of The Little Mermaid. Now, MTV has stated that Coppola wants Emma Watson to play Ariel. 
“Sofia wants Emma and the pair has such a respect for each other, it would be very surprising if they carry on without each other.
“Universal and Working Title want to move quickly on this so expect an announcement soon.”
Of course, Sofia and Emma worked together recently on the movie The Bling Ring, which was based on a true story of a gang of teenage burglars who targeted celebrities.
There is no other news regarding Coppola’s The Little Mermaid, other than the screenplay could be write by Tim Burton.
