Blue Exorcist part 2 review (Definitive Edition) by Screen Critix. Check out our review for one of the most anticipated Anime’s of December; Ao No Exorcist to the cool people.
“The next part I am commenting on is the sound track, the truly amazing soundtrack, which I honestly believe is one of the best out there.”
Blue Exorcist, Ao No Exorcist, or whatever you want to call it is a great Anime. Truly, it will always be special to me because of it’s soundtrack, heartfelt moments, and great art direction. The problem? Don’t start an Anime unless your source material is finished, or at least well on it’s way. The fact that this show caught up to the Manga so fast meant changes, and ultimately a halt to the show. PAINFUL. Research tells me that episode 15 is the point where the Manga and Anime storyline splits into two different directions.
That aside, let’s take a look at what we’ve got. As mentioned the show has great art direction. I especially love the demon designs, but also the world they inhabit is beautifully crafted. The level of detail is impressive from start to finish of this Blu-ray set, and the rest of the show. The True Cross Academy is a fine example of this. The quirky structure, even quirkier leader, and the magical vibe all work in harmony. The entire Blue Exorcist world is great if I’m honest – I would be surprised if many, like myself, don’t read the Manga.
In terms of the storyline, part 2 of the set focus’ on Rin Okumura’s trouble keeping his demon powers secret, his attempts to bond closer with other students, and eventually the dramatic conclusion of the series; which see’s some epic battles and serious achievements in animation.
The next part I am commenting on is the sound track, the truly amazing soundtrack, which I honestly believe is one of the best out there. For Anime? No, for anything. The enchanting songs work perfectly with this dark, but magical story. I challenge you to listen to this video below and not get chills:
As mentioned, I love the soundtrack. It seems to have everything from dramatic battle music, heartfelt melodies, all the way to funky and experimental tunes. All of which enhance the show. I SERIOUSLY CANNOT SAY ENOUGH TO DESCRIBE HOW GREAT THIS OST IS. Keep it together Edmond your a pro …. moving on.
My final point is on some of the more heartfelt moments. The episode ‘An Act of Kindness’ will always be special to me personally, and I imagine others too, as it saw an entire show lead to that moment. I won’t spoil it, but the episode is powerful and pulls on the heart strings. What a shame it is then, on another note, that this is the point where the story stops following the manga. This results in a somewhat rushed finish despite some quality battles.
Overall thoughts:
I would recommend Blue Exorcist, despite the rushed ending, for any Anime fan. The storyline is heartfelt, as are the characters, and some of the battles are epic. Buy it, then like myself; buy the Manga to carry on the storyline.
