We knew B.J. Novak was going to be in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but we didn’t know what role he would be playing…..until now.
The Office star had been announced as a cast member of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 last year, but his role has been kept under wraps. Now, director Marc Webb has taken to Twitter to let loose Novak’s role. 
“Almost shot ASM2 in B+W til @bjnovak‘s (A. Smythe) promo for his excellent book ONE MORE THING beat me to it”
That is right; B.J. Novak will play Alistair Smyth, the crippled son of the Oscorp scientist, Spencer Smythe, responsible for creating an army of robotic “Spider-Slayers”.
In the comic, Smythe eventually creates a mech-suit for himself, to become the ultimate Spider-Slayer. We doubt this will all happen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 though, as Peter Parker already has to battle Electro, Rhino and The Green Goblin. Let’s just hope that having a movie so full of bad guys, they don’t go down the Spider-Man 3 route – which was very bad.
