Thirty years after starring in the original hit film, Zach Galligan has declared his interest in returning for the Gremlins remake that is in the works.
Gremlins was a hit when it was released and is now a cult classic. The movie revolved around a young man called Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) who received a strange and obscure pet called a mogwai for Christmas from his father. Caring for the pet required great responsibility and Billy was supposed to adhere to certain rules like don’t get the cute pet wet or feed him after midnight. Of course, Billy failed to stick to the rules, which resulted in his small town being overrun with little destructive monsters.
Apparently, Steven Spielberg (who was a producer on the original) is currently writing a screenplay for a new, updated take on the story and the film’s original star, Zach Galligan, is eager to return.
“I know Spielberg and Chris Columbus are writing a reboot to the first movie.
“I’ve no idea what the plot will be but I’d love it if my character was in the film and had kids that could go on the wild Gremlins experience this time around.”
There is no news regarding a release date for the Gremlins remake or who will take up the directing chair, but we will let you all know as soon as we do.
