Sigourney Weaver wants to finish off the intergalactic horror saga and please fans by making an Alien 5 movie. All the details are right here.
There is no doubting that the Alien series of films are beloved by millions of movie fans. Starting with Alien in 1979, the series started with a genuinely scary film that changed sci-fi and horror forever. The sequel came in 1986 with Alien from James Cameron, who pumped up the action and thrills. David Fincher, who was new on the scene at the time, made Alien 3. The movie was poorly received at the time, but has since gained a cult following who believe that it is tremendously underrated. The last film in the series (so far) was 1997’s Alien Resurrection by Jean Pierre Jeunet. Like Alien 3, the film also received poor reviews and, although it looks great, it remains the weakest of the series to date.
Ever since Alien Resurrection was released, fans have been shouting for a fifth film, with the possible setting being on Earth itself, but nothing has come of it to date.
Now, seventeen years later, Sigourney Weaver has stated that she would love to do a fifth and final movie. Weaver is the one person who has been involved in all of the films to date and her character of Ellen Ripley is just as important to the story (if not more so) than the titular beasts themselves.
“Had we done a fifth one, I don’t doubt that her humanity would have prevailed,” mused Weaver. “I do feel like there is more story to tell.” She told L.A Times, “A lot of corporations are still characterised by the same kind of greed [as Weyland-Yutani],” she continued. “It’s an idea that’s, unfortunately, very alive in our world.
“I feel a longing from fans for the story to be finished,” concludes Weaver. “I could imagine a situation where we finish telling the story.”
