According to Kevin Feige, a Doctor Strange movie is definitely in development although there is no details on a possible release date as yet.
Talking to Movies.com, Feige assured that a Doctor Strange film is currently in development, although he isn’t sure when the magician will make it to the big screen.
“Doc Strange, as I’ve been saying for years, is a movie I believe we should make — we’re just figuring out how to make it a great movie.”
“It is in active development right now,” he added. “Whether that’s one of the movies we announce for 2016 or 2017, we have to see. I think it’ll be the middle of next year before we announce officially what the post ‘Ant-Man’ films will be.”
Feige also opened up about some other Marvel characters too. The likes of The Punisher, Daredevil, Blade and Ghost Rider have reverted back to Marvel studios after the rights ran out at the respective studios who used to own them.
“We’re trying to figure out what to do with Daredevil now. Punisher could show up at one point. You know, once we get characters back into the Marvel fold we don’t want to do something right away, we want to do the smart thing at the smart time.”
Daredevil, Punisher and Ghost Rider have all had films in the last ten years, but all where instantly forgettable and bombed at the box-office. If Marvel where to bring a new version of any and add them into the Avengers universe, it will surely do big business.
Marvel’s Phase 2 consists of Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Only one film has been named for Phase 3 so far and that is Ant-Man. There is absolutely no news regarding any others to date, but it could include Doctor Strange, Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk 2 and The Avengers 3. Although this is purely speculation.
