There is nothing better than binge-watching a must-see drama. However, the worst part about doing that is when you finally reach the end. Once you have finished, you need to wait for a prolonged amount of time for the next instalment to begin.
Fortunately for fans of big television dramas, there isn’t much longer to wait, as some of the most popular dramas in the world are set to be released during 2020. But, which dramas could we see ourselves getting invested in this year?
It has been just over a year since we first delved into the drugs cartels in Mexico, and we will finally be seeing the next part of the story this year. The Narcos: Mexico series has been a brilliant spin-off from the hugely popular Narcos series, which centred around the Colombian cartels.
The second season will once again centre around Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo as the head of the Guadalajara cartel. However, this season we will learn that he isn’t as immortal as he believed he was, as many of the other kingpins will attempt to bring him down. Meanwhile, the DEA are hot on his tail after he viciously murdered Kiki Camarena during the last season.
This year will also see the return of Peaky Blinders following the cliffhanging conclusion to season five. At the end of the gripping finale, Tommy Shelby was about the shoot himself after his plan to kill Oswald Mosley was foiled. It’s unlikely that Tommy will be killed off, but the show’s writer has revealed that Tommy will be pushed to his limit in the coming season.
Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as the leader of the gang, and his performances in season five ensured that he won a host of accolades at the prestigious National Television Awards. Tom Hardy will also be returning to play Alfie Solomons. The series is expected to air at the end of the year and will be an unmissable season of television.
Jodie Comer has gained critical acclaim for her portrayal as Villanelle. The menacing lead character in Killing Eve will be returning this year, with season two ending on a cliff-hanger of its own, as Villanelle left Eve for dead after shooting her. It has been the show everybody has been talking about, as it picked up two Golden Globe nomination last year.
It has been teased that the coming season could centre around Eve looking to get revenge for Villanelle’s assassination attempt, as Sandra Oh has already confirmed that she isn’t really dead, as she has been pictured filming scenes. Fans will be hoping that there will be more emotionally charged scenes between the two leading actresses, but it has been teased that the third season could revolve around the two having to live life without being addicted to each other. However, it’s hard to see fans going a whole season without the two sharing the screen on at least one occasion.
