Tom Cruise drops out of The Magnificent Seven remake

The Magnificent Seven remake has taken a major blow, as Tom Cruise has decided to drop out of the project in favour of other films.

MGM had believed that a remake of the classic western The Magnificent Seven to be a major vehicle for Cruise to star in, but that idea will now have to be scrapped following the actor’s decision to leave the project. Of course, Cruise already has his schedule pretty full with another Mission Impossible film and a return as Jack Reacher on the horizon. tom cruise

With Cruise out, MGM will now be looking for another A-lister to headline the project. Could we see George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale or Tom Hardy receiving a call

The screenplay for The Magnificent Seven is also set to be reworked by John Lee Hancock. Hancock recently directed Tom Hanks in Saving Mr. Banks.

More on this when we have it.
