It seems like no film franchise is safe from the reboot police, even if they are only a few years old. The latest film to be rebooted will be The Grudge.
Ju-On came out in 2002 and was a big hit for being a scary Japanese horror film. Along with The Ring, it was remade for the American audience just a couple of years later and renamed The Grudge. Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, The Grudge was a decent sized hit – making $187 million from a $10 million budget.
Now, thanks to Ghost House Pictures who brought the original out, a remake is on the way. Jeff Buhler, the man behind The Midnight Meat Train, is currently working on a new script. It’s as yet unknown who will be directing and starring in the film, or even how much of the original plot will remain, but time will tell.
