More booby-traps, guys. It looks like the world is finally getting a sequel to the Goonies, and all the original cast may be returning for The Goonies 2!
It’s a film that is beloved by millions around the world. A quintessential 80’s movie; The Goonies was about a group of children on an adventure to find treasure whilst avoiding capture from a criminal family. Now, twenty nine years, we could be on the verge of receiving a sequel.
Richard Donner, whilst speaking to TMZ, answered a question regarding the possibility of making a super hero movie:
“If you call ‘Goonies’ a comic book. We’re doing a sequel.”
He isn’t the only person to comment on a sequel either. Sean Astin, who played Mikey in the original before moving on to famously portray Sam in The Lord of the Rings, told IGN last year that he was certain a sequel was coming.
The Goonies also starred Cory Feldmen, Josh Brolin, Martha Plimpton, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green and Jonathan Ke Quan. A video game called The Goonies 2 was released in 1987.
What has not been stated yet is if the original cast will just cameo for a new group of “goonies” or if they all get together for one last adventure as adults. We like the latter idea.
