With JJ Abrams stepping aside, it looks like Attack the Block director Joe Cornish could be lined up to take over on Star Trek 3.

According to a report on Deadline, UK film-maker Joe Cornish is Paramount’s first choice as director of Star Trek 3. Cornish made his directorial debut with Attack the Block and has since wrote The Adventures of Tin Tin and co-wrote the upcoming Marvel Phase 3 movie Ant-Man alongside Edgar Wright. star trek

JJ Abrams directed Star Trek and this year’s sequel Star Trek: Into Darkness. He left the series as a director to work on Star Wars VII, although he will work as a producer on Star Trek 3.

There are no other news regarding the next instalment of the Trek films, although the third is expected to be released in the blockbuster-packed 2015.
