It looks like Bananaman isn’t the only 80’s cartoon announced this week to be receiving a movie adaption; Jem and the Holograms is being made too.
This is certainly a blast from the past. Do you remember Jem? Jem had it all – glamour, glitter, fashion and fame. She was a normal girl by day who transformed into a rocking pop star. Only her bandmates knew, not even her boyfriend. 
Scooter Braun, who is Justin Bieber’s manager, is behind the adaption. He announced it alongside Jon M Chu (director of GI Joe: Retaliation) and producer Jason Blum.
According to Variety, the movie ‘will reimagine Jem for a hyperlinked social media age’, and feature a music-driven scavenger hunt. The film has a budget but everything else will be found via crowdsourcing, including the cast.
