It was rumoured last year and now it looks like its official; Tom Hanks and Ron Howard will reunite for another Dan Brown adaption – Inferno.
Having already made The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, many wondered if both Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard would continue making films based around the world of Robert Langdon. Well, it seems they will, as Inferno (last year’s immensely popular novel) is to be adapted into a movie.
While the news of an Inferno adaption isn’t surprising, the ignoring of The Lost Symbol will be. In the series of books, Angels & Demons was first, followed by The Da Vinci Code and then The Lost Symbol. Inferno was the fourth release. Howard and Hanks may believe that The Lost Symbol isn’t strong enough or too similar to The Da Vinci Code to adapt.
Inferno sees our hero Robert Langdon (Hanks) trying to stop the release of a new deadly plague by a madman who takes inspiration from Dante’s Inferno. The story is gripping and should make for an excellent movie.
Expect it to be a big hit when released. The Da Vinci Code made $750 million at the box office and Angels & Demons made $500 million.
The film is penciled in for December 15th, 2015.
More on Inferno when we have it.
