Fresh from giving Godzilla a much needed successful revamp, Gareth Edwards has been named as the man to create the first Star Wars spin-off film.
Gareth Edwards is fast becoming one of the most sought out directors in the world. Having made the excellent and low-budget Monsters, he moved straight on to Godzilla. Many had doubts as to whether an independent filmmaker could pull-off such a feat, but he has passed with flying colours. 
He is set to make a second installment in the Godzilla franchise, but before that he has another movie to make – the first spin-off movie from Star Wars according to Heat Vision.
Little is known about who the film will be based on, but fans have brought up such names as Boba Fett, Han Solo, Yoda. It may be regarding a whole new character entirely.
“Ever since I saw Star Wars I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life – join the Rebel Alliance!” says Edwards. “I could not be more excited and honoured to go on this mission with Lucasfilm.”
Not bad for a man with just two feature films on his resume.
