Some worrying news for those looking forward to next year’s Ant-Man movie, as director Edgar Wright has left the project due to “creative differences”.
Edgar Wright, the man behind Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, has been working with Marvel to develop an Ant-Man movie for a few years now. In the last few months, the main cast has been announced with Paul Rudd taking the main role alongside the likes of Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly.
Now, it was announced last night that Edgar Wright and Marvel have parted company due to creative differences and a new director has been hired. We don’t know who exactly the new director is, only that Marvel will make an announcement shortly.
This piece of news not only came as a shock, but also a disappointment for many fans looking forward to the film. Wright has gained himself a bit of a cult following thanks to his collaborations with Simon Pegg with the Cornetto Trilogy and many thought he was the perfect choice to bring Ant-Man to the big screen.
Although a new director is taking over from where Wright has left off, Marvel also stated that the release date for Ant-Man will not change and it will still be the first film to be released from their upcoming Phase 3 series of movies.
