The next (and possibly last) Die Hard is currently being written and, according to screenwriter Ben Treblicook, it will feature the return of Samuel L Jackson’s character Zeus Carver. More on Die Hardest here.
The fifth Die Hard film, entitled A Good Day to Die Hard, was released earlier this year to negative reception. The film failed to live up to the standard of the first three movies. Now, Bruce Willis is eager to end the series on a high and try and recapture the thrills of the first (and best) film.
Apparently, Die Hardest will be set around Willis’ John McClane being invited to an anniversary dinner to celebrate his heroic acts in 1988 at the Nakatomi Building in Los Angles.
Obviously, things won’t go as planned and McClane will most likely have to save the day once again. The return to the Nakatomi story will be the first since 1995’ Die Hard with a Vengeance, where McClane and Zeus Carver had to stop Simon Gruber from stealing millions of dollars worth of gold bullion while competing in a series of tasks. Simon Gruber was the brother of the protagonist at the Nakatomi siege – Hans Gruber.
Now, according to the Die Hardest screenwriter Ben Trebicook in an interview with What Culture, Zeus Carver will play a part in the new movie, although we don’t as yet know is Samuel L Jackson will return.
“Yes, I’ve written Zeus Carver in for Samuel L Jackson,” said Treblicook. “Like I said before, it’s not a buddy-buddy script, but you can’t ignore him. Zeus played a major part in McClane’s life. They went through a lot together. They would certainly, without a doubt, still be in contact. A guy I know, Stel, wrote the 51st State (aka Formula 51) with Sam the Man. I put the idea to him and he said Sam would probably love to have a sword in a movie; that’s how you could woo him.”
