It looks as though a third X-Files film could become a reality, with David Duchovny stating that a script is in development.
The X-Files was a huge success when it beamed into our living rooms in the early 90’s, yet the spin-off movies haven’t quite reached expectations. The first film, which was released in 1998, made $189 million at the box office, yet the sequel only garnered a disappointing $68 million. The result of which scuppered the chance of a third film – or so we thought.
“I think Chris [Carter] is working on a script,” said Duchovny. “Chris is shooting a pilot [for a different project] right now, so he might not be working on a script, but he claims to be working on a script, and if he does do that and Fox wants to make it, Gillian will do it, I will do it, so start your writing campaign now. Seriously. We’d all love to do it.”
