“I found myself sitting in bed til 3am in the morning wanting to watch more”

The story is based on a teenage boy called Kōichi Sakakibara transferring to Yomiyama North Middle School mid term and joining class 3 in his year. He meets a young girl called Mei Misaki, a quiet shy girl with a patch over her left eye, no one else in their class seems to notice her. Kōichi wonders why and finds out that a person called Misaki had died all of a sudden in class 3, 26 years ago. No one wanted to acknowledge this person had gone so they left a desk for them and mysteriously in their end of year photo Misaki can be seen in the picture. Kōichi is determined that Mei Misaki is real and when he starts to tell friends about her, people start to die.

This is a gripping anime and I found myself sitting in bed til 3am in the morning wanting to watch more. It reminds me a little of ‘Final Destination’ with how the deaths occur. The horror aspect would be the amount of blood and the last two episodes when things get a little more intense. I did not find this anime to be scary at all, just a little gory. Put a zombie in it however, and I wouldn’t be able to get to sleep.

I did find some of the deaths towards the end to be fairly humourous. For example a certain character gets out from underneath rubble from some near death experience, starts to run and then gets a random pillar fall on him, maybe I am just heartless, but it was funny.

I am not satisfied with Another’s ending, as I don’t believe the situation had been completely resolved. I can’t tell you anything more than that as it would spoil it, if you watch it, you will know.

Overall thoughts:

Music was fitting and I liked the art work. If you like a good mystery give this a try, although you may not be fully satisfied with the ending.

Another on DVD is available at Anime On Line, right now!
