Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode 6 review

After a week off, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns with episode 6. The gang have to solve the mystery surrounding the deaths of a few firemen. Here is the review.

This week’s episode starts with a group of scouts telling scary stories around a campfire. The camp leader goes to search for the source of a humming sound in the near woods but his body soon shows up, floating in mid-air with electricity surrounding him.

S.H.I.E.L.D. show up to investigate and then come across another body not so far away, which is also floating. They soon piece together the facts that both men worked together at the same fire station in New York and also helped during the alien invasion of The Avengers movie. agent coulson

We then see that the firemen found a Chitauri helmet and kept it as a souvenir and, when attempting to clean it, unwittingly unleash an alien virus that causes the victim to heat up to twice the temperature of a lightning strike.

The group take the helmet and are on the way to dropping it off at a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. bunker when scientist Simmons comes to the conclusion that she too has the virus and the team have just two hours to find a cure or she will die.

Episode 6 is, most likely, the best episode of the season so far. They, again, insert a story from the movies to make sure you are aware that these characters live in the same universe as the likes of Iron-Man and Thor.

The team now have feelings for each other and the thought of losing Simmons effects everybody, especially her partner in crime – Fitz.

This episode also shows Agent Coulson coming to the realisation that Loki killed him in The Avengers and somehow he was brought back to life – feeling and acting differently.

Much improved, let’s hope it continues.
