We have a replacement for the loss of Edgar Wright. Comedy director Adam McKay will now take over and make the upcoming Marvel film Ant-Man.
Fans all over the world groaned in unison when it was announced that Edgar Wright had left Ant-Man; a project he had been working on for eight years. Rumours hit the web regarding who would replace the British filmmaker, including Marvel looking at Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn as moving over to Ant-Man. We didn’t announce any of these rumours as the sounded a bit iffy to us, but we can now state who the real replacement is – Adam McKay.
Some may not recognise the name, but you will certainly know his films. McKay is mostly known for his Anchorman films starring Will Ferrell. He is a well-established comedy director, so that may show which direction Marvel are going with Ant-Man and making it more humorous. Not exactly like what the character is about in the comics.
Adam McKay does have a history of directing Paul Rudd, the main star of Ant-Man. Rudd has worjed with McKay on Anchorman and Anchorman 2.
Rudd is set to star opposite Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly in Ant-Man, hich is set for release next summer.
