Check out our Warframe PS4 review roundup. Edmond Guy finds the best reviews so you can decide whether to play, or use bandwidth on, the free-to-play title!
“Warframe is a fun free-to-play game that fits in with the launch line-up of the PS4 nicely.”
IGN score: 7.5.
“Warframe tips the scales too far in one direction. The core gameplay, including the variety of suits and weapons, is terrific, and it’s reason enough to play this sci-fi shooter. But the boring story, too-similar missions, and aggressive payment model hold it back from what it could be. Still, if you plan to pick it up, it’s worth dropping $60 and pretend there’s nothing else to it.”
Eurogamer score 4/10.
“If all you want is a way to run around and shoot things without troubling your wallet or imagination, that may be enough to justify the time it takes Warframe to download. It’s hard, though, to shake the feeling that the only reason this game is free to play is that nobody would pay money for something so scrappy and generic.”
Metro.co.uk score 7/10.
“A good start to free-to-play games on the PlayStation 4, with a fun co-op shooter that doesn’t feel like it’s solely out to gouge its player’s wallets.”
Playstation Lifestyle score 7.5.
“Warframe is a fun free-to-play game that fits in with the launch line-up of the PS4 nicely. It’s not a groundbreaking game, and it’s not in contention for game of the year, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a fun. Find you a group of gamers that are willing to work together, and you can easily spend hours traveling through the solar system, taking out aliens and bad guys right and left.”
Now Gamer score 7.5/10.
“As a launch game that means suffering through matches with hundreds of other players who are also still learning the basics, but if the PS4 community develops like the PC one has then there is a rewarding multiplayer experience waiting just a few months away.”
