James Mangold has stated that he will direct the sequel to last year’s The Wolverine after X-Men Apocalypse in 2016.
The Wolverine was released last year and had far better reviews than the last Wolverine standalone movie – Wolverine: X-Men Origins. In the film, Logan (Hugh Jackman) travelled to Japan to pay his respects to a dying man from his past, but he soon finds himself in grave danger.
Mangold had stated last year that a sequel is in the works, yet we have heard very little since. He has now taken to his Twitter to state that the sequel will be shot following X-Men Apocalypse.
“@R__E__D_R__U__M @20centuryfox @ShuDonner We are figuring it all out. At the moment, I’m shooting The next #Wolverine after #XmenApocalypse.”
X-Men Days of Future Past is set to hit our screens this May, with a sequel (Apocalypse) coming out exactly two years later.
