More mysterious happenings take place in Sleepy Hollow, as Ichabod Crane and Lieutenant Abbie Mills work together to get to the bottom of it all. Review of Sleepy Hollow episode 2 after the jump.
Spoilers ahead.
Ichabod has a dream that he is being chased through the woods by the four horsemen of the apocalypse, when suddenly he is dragged down a hole by tree branches. Once in the hole, he is approached by his wife, who tells them something evil is coming to Sleepy Hollow. Of course, this is all a dream, but it’s a good start to the episode.
Mills is still having trouble convincing Captain Irving (Orlando Jones) that weird things are happing in the town, even though there are witnesses claiming to the fact that there is a headless man riding a horse decapitating people.
Brooks, who was killed by the blurry demon in the first episode, wakes up in a morgue and is set on another mission – to resurrect an evil witch called Serilda.
It turns out that Serilda was burnt at the stake two hundred and fifty years earlier and to make her whole again, she needs the ashes of her killers’ decedents. Ichabod and Mills are soon piecing things together and set out to stop her.
Episode 2 “Blood Moon” continues the mythology of Sleepy Hollow nicely. Adding new monsters to each episode, whilst continuing the story of the headless horseman is a brilliant touch. Sleepy Hollow also has the right amount of comedy too, especially with Crane trying to get used to all the changes in America since he was last alive. This week, Crane can’t believe the prices of donuts and believes a stand by the people should be made.
Screen Critix is looking forward to watching more of this Fox series now. Sleepy Hollow is recommended to all.
