Should I Watch Attack On Titan?

September 9, 2013 By Edmond Guy Leave a Comment

One of the biggest Anime’s of 2013 is without a doubt Attack On Titan. After 21 episodes I feel confident enough to give my opinion on the series and hopefully explain why you should be watching too.

I’ll be honest, the first episode didn’t really hook me. First episodes of anything are usually tough; my rule is to give a series 3 episodes unless it’s total trash. Something about Attack On Titan made me want to continue watching.

The main idea behind the series is as follows: Humans live inside a walled fortress of sorts. Titans are giant humanoids that eat humans, they live outside the wall, and basically force humans to lead a trapped life. The main character Eren is determined to join the “Recon Corps” and venture outside the walls.

Why should you watch?

The series has some shocking moments. You just never know if a character will make it to the next episode some times. In a time when I feel writers play it too safe too often; Hajime Isayama wrote/drew a Manga, that became an Anime, that has no problem killing off characters. Making the series unpredictable.

Action. Attack On Titan also delivers some of the craziest action in an Anime to date. Characters use something called “3D Maneuver Gear” that allows aerial combat with giant enemies.

Characters. One thing I think Attack On Titan has done well is create interesting characters. It’s not all about being the strongest, the smartest or saving the day. Sometimes it’s about a character having to make choices they will have to live with. Fight or run? Live inside the walls or try create a better world for the future.

Where can I watch it?

Your options are:

Crunchyroll.com

Wait for the DVD/Blu Ray release.

Or read the Manga. Which is available on Amazon, Waterstones & Play.com.
