Following on from the critically acclaimed short film A Hand to Play, Mike Clarke is all set to return with a drama entitled Paper and Plastic.

Starring Doug Bradley from Hellraiser fame, the short British thriller A Hand to Play was released to great critical acclaim earlier this year. Now, director Mike Clarke is set to follow it up with a short drama called Paper and Plastic starring Anthony Quinlan – a well-established soap opera actor. paper and plastic

The plot sees successful businessman Thomas Cooper (Anthony Quinlan) returning to his childhood home, after many years away, to attend his father’s funeral. Whilst there, he rekindles his relationship with his mother, who he lost touch with over the years.

“It’s just a nice little slice of British life.” Clarke told Screen Critix. “Thomas is a likeable character who has made a few mistakes in his life and now he is looking to make up for them. I think many people can relate to the story.”

Quinlan will star alongside the likes of Carole Bardsley, Rachael Skerritt, Phil Gwilliam, Ian Butlin and Carl Noon. Gwilliam and Noon had featured in A Hand to Play.

“The cast have done a great job.” continued Clarke. “Phil and Carl have already worked with me in the past and they both do great again in this. Carole, Rachael and Ian were all a pleasure to work with; their performances are all honest, sincere and moving. I think people will enjoy the natural presence they bring to their roles.”

Paper and Plastic is currently in post-production and should be released before the end of the year, but Mike Clarke is already working on new projects.

“I have a few things in the pipeline and Paul McGowan (writer of A Hand to Play and producer of Paper and Plastic) is currently working on a draft for a feature I came up with. Hopefully we should have some great news soon.”
