Just as it was announced that Ant-Man had been brought forward to Summer 2015, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has been pushed back to 2016.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that the next instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series has been pushed back a whole year, citing problems with the script and budget behind the reason for the delay.
Bruckheimer told the Hollywood Reporter that a story is in place, but the script is not done. It has also been reported that some of the set-pieces will be really expensive to film and, after the recent flop of The Lone Ranger, Disney may not be willing to pump too much money into the film.
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been a huge hit though. The last movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, made $1.04 billion at the box office.
Let’s hope they get this sorted and the film out, as news of a set-back will upset the series’ fans.
