Wang Jianlin, who just so happens to be China’s richest man, is opening a mega film studio that is costing a whopping $8.17 billion to build.
Described as a motion-picture city, the new film studio will feature twenty sound studios, the world’s first fully underwater studio, a shopping mall, an exhibition centre, an indoor amusement park and many luxurious hotels. This amazing place will be located in Qingdao – a picturesque city.
Wang is looking at China becoming a major player in the movie business, and with this studio, his dream is likely to become a reality.
With a personal wealth of $14 billion, Wang is also the chairman of the privately owned Wanda Group, who in turn own 72 Wanda Plazas, 40 five-star hotels, 6,000 cinema screens, 62 department stores and 68 karaoke centres.
Wanda will own the movie studio and expect them to be a major player in the next ten years.
