Deadline were the first to break the news when they stated that “The Marc Haimes-scripted film is gearing toward an early 2014 production start, while there’s still snow on the ground in the locations where they will shoot.”
They also said that the film will be produced by Chris Columbus and his team at 1492, and that they were aiming to secure a big-name male lead who is not associated with the genre.
Troll Hunter was only released in 2010, with the found-footage film based around a group of students looking to make a documentary on, who they thought was, an illegal bear hunter, only to find out he is a hunter of mythical trolls.
Neil Marshall has made some classic British horror films in the past decade, including Dog Soldiers, The Descent and Doomsday, as well as a couple of episodes of Game of Thrones.
