Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Fullburst review. Having being a long time fan of the Anime and Manga I was excited to review this game.
The game begins at the end of the Pain Saga as we continue to follow Naruto’s story to try bring peace to the ninja world. The game opens the night Naruto was born, with the attack on the Hidden Leaf Village. After a small cinematic you are dropped head first in to a flurry of fights. The mash-up of cinematics and gameplay work well, even if cutscenes can be a bit long at some points in the game.
For new players , Naruto the main character is a gutsy young adult that has bags of attitude, is loyal to his friends and never scared to stand up for what he believes in. The story you play is based on his journey. You don’t, however, just control him. As the story Progresses you will control many of the classic characters and new ninjas that are in the Naruto Shippuden world. Using their skills and Ninjitsu, a unique fighting style, in battle to defeat enemies. Although the games takes you all over the Naruto universe there is no world map. You have to go were the games takes you, also the little free roaming you can do is restricted as you are either placed on a path with only one way to go, or in a town with very little places to explore.
The Battle system is smooth and fluid, but can be a little tricky with certain characters. Some are very easy to play , while others are very overpowered. Also, some of the battles just don’t feel like they play right, and make you feel like smashing your head against a monitor screaming “WHY!”, as battles can last 3 hours (WOOT, true story) due to awkward gameplay moments. The way the game switches from mid fight to cinematics is effective but it can stop your rhythm, then the battle can suddenly start again. Which sometimes ends in the player getting caught off guard. Especially if you are taking a sip of energy drink …
The second part of the Battle system is the Legend or hero difficulty settings. With some of the battles you are given a choice between the two modes with legend
the harder of the 2 options. This is on top of the normal difficulty, giving you a range of settings to choose from. Playing the legend difficult is, as you would imagine, difficult. You feel like you’ve earned the legendary status …. after hours of struggle!
Overall Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Fullburst is a solid addition to the Naruto World and enjoyable to play, if you like a good beat-em up and are a fan of Naruto this is a great choice.
