Is Mark Hamill set to return to the character that made him famous? Rumours suggest that Hamill will play Luke Skywalker in the next Star Wars film.
It’s been 30 years since Mark Hamill last picked up a lightsaber in a movie, but rumours are abound that he will once again play the man who stopped the Sith in the next Star Wars movie, which will be directed by J.J. Abrams and released in Summer 2015.
The rumour actually came about after Hamill’s long-time friend; Robert Englund let it slip out during an interview. Englund, mostly known for playing Freddy Kruegar in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street series, told people during the Nashville Comic Expo.
“Mark now — they’ve got Mark in the gym, because Mark’s coming back as Luke Skywalker. They’ve got him doing his sit ups.”
Although it has not been officially announced, the film studio are looking to get a few familiar faces from the original trilogy back. It is rumoured that they have asked both Hamill and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) to lose weight and get back into shape to look as much like they did back in the eighties as possible.
It is also rumoured that Harrison Ford will be returning.
