The sequel to this year’s Brad Pitt zombie hit World War Z now has a director, as Juan Antonio Bayona will now helm World War Z 2.
Although World War Z was plagued with problems during production, the film itself did exceptionally well at the box office and is now Brad Pitt’s most successful film in terms of box office takings – $540 million worldwide.
It seemed the rewrites and reshoots of the first movie took its toll on director Marc Foster, who declared no interest in making another almost immediately.
Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount and Skydance Pictures have signed Juan Antonio Bayona to make World War Z 2. Bayona is the person responsible for last year’s tsunami film The Impossible and the Spanish horror The Orphanage.
Seeing that the first film did so (surprisingly) well, you can expect Brad Pitt and Mireille Enos to return for more action around the world.
