Reports are coming in that Disney and Jon Favreau are in talks to bring a new live-action The Jungle Book to the screens.
Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale The Jungle Book has been immortalised on screen a few times already. The Disney animation is easily the most famous, and will go down in history as one of the greatest animated films of all-time. 1994 saw Stephen Sommers, director of The Mummy, bring the story back to the screen with a live-action take starring Jason Scott-Lee and Cary Elwes.
Now, it looks as though a new take could start production soon, with Disney wanting Jon Favreau to direct. Favreau has been a successful director with such films as Iron-Man, Iron-Man 2, Elf and Swingers. He also made Zathura, which was basically a sci-fi version of the Robin Williams’ movie Jumanji.
According to reports, Justin Marks, who wrote Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, is peening the screenplay and Favreau is very interested in this new take on the classic story.
