After years of rumours, it looks like the television series Absolutely Fabulous will finally be coming to the big screen following an interview with Jennifer Saunders.
Absolutely Fabulous was a hit television series that was broadcast on the BBC and starred both Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley as to middle-aged women growing up disgracefully. Beloved by millions of fans, the show has been rumoured to have a spin-off movie but hopes were dashed as years went by.
Now, Saunders has confirmed that it is to happen during an interview she had with Jonathan Ross.
“Yes, well I have to do it now because I’ve threatened to a lot.
“And then Joanna Lumley kept announcing it and saying, ‘Yes, she’s going to do it,’ and then Dawn French on our radio show at Christmas said, ‘I bet £100,000 that you don’t write it,’ so now I have to write it, otherwise I have to pay her £100,000.”
Saunders, who made up one half of the comedy duo French & Saunders, is scared that the movie could bomb.
“It’s like the second album syndrome. Once you’ve had a bit of success, the last thing you want to do is go and make a flop. So the biggest fear in me is that it won’t be good enough. I’m really nervous about it.”
