Casting details have come through for next year’s Paddington movie, with Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman heading an impressive list of attached names.
Ready to open in November 2104 in the UK and spring 2015 in the US, the live action movie Paddington, based on the beloved children’s character Paddington Bear, is already heating up due to the cast-list.
Academy Award winner Colin Firth will headline, alongside Nicole Kidman. Other names due to star in the film are Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent. The director of Paddington will be Paul King – a man who is mostly known for directing episodes of the Mighty Boosh.
Paddington is being fully financed by Studiocanal and centres on a young bear that was raised as an anglophile by his Aunt Lucy in Peru. He is left lost and alone at London’s Paddington Station when Lucy decides it’s time to go to England in search of a better life. While staying with a kind family who takes him in, Paddington sets out in search of an explorer who inspired his aunt years before, avoiding a sinister taxidermist and unintentionally bringing comic mayhem.
