It looks like Duncan Jones’ big screen adaption of the popular computer game World of Warcraft could very well have Colin Farrell and Paula Patton in lead roles.
According to reliable film site Deadline, both Colin Farrell and Paul Patton have been approached to star in Warcraft, with Farrell 50/50 on whether to take the role or not. If he doesn’t accept, director Duncan Jones has already been looking at other stars.
World of Warcraft is an incredibly successful online game. Uwe Boll (House of the Dead, Rampage) was once interested in adapting the series but was turned down by the creators. As quoted by MTV News, Boll said “I got in contact with Paul Sams of Blizzard, and he said, ‘We will not sell the movie rights, not to you… especially not to you. Because it’s such a big online game success, maybe a bad movie would destroy that ongoing income, what the company has with it.”
Duncan Jones is a British director who made the film Moon as well as Source Code. Chances are, Warcraft could start filming as early as January.
