Its official, Emilia Clarke from the series Game of Thrones will be Sarah Connor in the reboot of the classic James Cameron movie The Terminator.
She has been tipped to take over from Linda Hamilton for a couple of months, but today it has been made official as Emilia Clarke has signed on to play Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genesis. It may have helped her cause that director Alan Taylor has also worked as a director on Game of Thrones too.
Clarke will now join Jason Clarke (no relation) in the film, as well as the legendary action star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will return to the franchise that made him a superstar.
Emilia Clarke had some hot competition though, as both she and Brie Larason tested out in front of the cameras for producers at Paramount, Skydance and Annapurna. Clarke obviously got the best response and was offered the coveted role.
Linda Hamilton made the role of Sarah Connor iconic in the 80’s and early 90’s. The character was pretty much a damsel in distress in the original film, but turned into a bad-ass by the time the sequel rolled out.
Will the producers and Alan Taylor follow the same (winning) formula for Sarah Connor? Or do they have something else in mind? Only time will tell.
