Chris Pratt is ready to light up the big screen as Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy next summer. He has recently spoken about the character and the movie itself.
Taking the last spot in Marvel’s phase 2 before the big one – The Avengers: Age of Ultron; Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be the craziest instalment from the comic world to date. For those unaware, the story and film will see a gang made up of a talking and walking tree, a gun-crazy talking racoon and more.
The Guardians of the Galaxy do exactly as it says on the tin – they protect the whole galaxy from potential destruction. The group of alien heroes are led by Star Lord, who will be played by Chris Pratt.
“Just the fact that he was part of the Marvel brand was really exciting. I was signed up to do the movie before I was even allowed to read a script, so it wasn’t like something about this particular character that got me to do it. The fact that it was a Marvel movie is what got me to do it.
Granted, once I did read it there were so many things about the character that I love, and one thing is that he’s very much a kid at heart. He’s like a man-child. And I like the idea that he’s got a false sense of bravado. Deep down inside he’s lonely and desperate. But on the outside he walks around like he’s big and tough, and I don’t think he does a great job of convincing everybody that he’s not just a scared little child.”
Before Guardians of the Galaxy rolls in though, we have Captain America: Winter Soldier next spring. This all comes after the recent release of Thor: The Dark World, which is in cinemas right now.
