The British film director behind such films as Priest and Ravenous, Antonia Bird has passed away aged just 54 years old.
A Bafta-award winning director, Antonia Bird was suffering from a rare anaplastic thyroid cancer and, according to her partner; she had come to terms over the last few weeks with the inevitable and died in her sleep.
Bird collaborated with Robert Carlyle on three films – Priest, Ravenous and Face. Carlyle has since taken to twitter to pay his respects.
“Such a sad day today.. RIP Antonia Bird. Farewell my beautiful friend xxx” Carlyle wrote.
Bird was also known for directing episodes of such television shows as Eastenders, The Bill, Casualty, Spooks and The Village.
