It’s been a long time since we last saw Axel Foley, but Eddie Murphy will return as the quick witted and fearless police officer in Beverly Hills Cop 4.
Jerry Bruckheimer and his company Bruckheimer Films have returned to Paramount for a new three-year deal starting in April 2014 according to Deadline. The first film under the new contract will be Beverly Hills Cop 4 and will be directed by Brett Ratner.
According to sources, the fourth instalment of the Axel Foley saga will see Eddie Murphy’s character returning to Detroit to clean up the criminals there.
The original Beverly Hills Cop was released in 1984 to much praise. A sequel was released in 1987 and the third film came out in 1994.
Director Brett Ratner is known for making the Rush Hour film starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, as well as the remake of Manhunter – Red Dragon, and X-Men: The Last Stand.
Sources also state that when Bruckheimer has produced Beverley Hills Cop 4, he will then turn his attention to making a sequel to Top Gun with Tom Cruise returning as Maverick.
