Hot on the heels of his scene-stealing performance in Star Trek: Into Darkness, Benedict Cumberbatch is all set for the main role in the movie adaption of The Lost City of Z.
The news was broken by Deadline from the Toronto International Film Festival today.
Cumberbatch, who made a name for himself in the television series Sherlock, will take on the role of Percy Fawcett – a British Soldier who discovers the mythical Lost City of Z in the Brazilian rain-forests. When he returns home, nobody believes him, so he attempts to go back with his son in order to gain evidence, only to be never seen again.
The book, by David Grann, is actually based on a true story and it was rumoured to star Brad Pitt when the film was first announced in 2008.
This is the second big film that Benedict Cumberbatch has been attached to in the last two days, with a rumour of him starring in Star Wars: Episode VII circulating just yesterday.
More on this when we have it.
