Andres Muschietti to direct THE MUMMY reboot

September 13, 2013 By Carl Burgess Leave a Comment

It has been announced that Mama director Andres Muschietti has been handed the role of making The Mummy reboot for Universal.

The Mummy films have been successful since the dawn of celluloid. Ever since the Boris Karloff version in 1932 all the way to The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008, people have flocked to the cinema in order to be scared by the Egyptian undead. andres-muschietti

It was announced last year that a reboot was to be made with Len Wisman in the director’s chair, but Wiseman left the project in August. Universal have now decided to give the job to Andres Muschietti – a man with just one feature film on his resume to date, Mama.

Whilst it never lived up to the short film it was based on, Mama still did quite well at the box office – making $146 million on just a $15 million budget.

There is no news on who will star in reboot of The Mummy, but you bet that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will not be brought back.
