The Terminator is about to be rebooted and a director has been hired in the shape of Thor: The Dark World’s Alan Taylor.
It was assumed that Terminator 5 was on the way, but it now seems that it will be a reboot and the start of a whole new trilogy. Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry, My Bloody Valentine) was in-line to direct the film, but it seems that the studio have changed their mind and hired Alan Taylor. Taylor has recently finished Thor: The Dark World, which will be released in a couple of months. He also directed episodes of such television series as The Sopranos, Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has already expressed an interest at returning to the T-800 character he made famous in 1984. It is as yet unknown whether he will be hired, seeing as it will be a different story from the original, which had him hunting Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor, in order to kill her so she can’t give birth to her future son John – a resistance leader during the futuristic war between man and robot.
The is no news regarding the plot though, but expect it to start filming before next summer.
