Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D episode 2 review

October 2, 2013 By Carl Burgess Leave a Comment

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D returns for the second episode of an already popular new television show. Check out the review after the jump.

This review contains spoilers; do not continue to read if you want to find out what happens for yourself.

Following on from last week’s episode, Agent Coulson and his team answer a call regarding an 803 – or a found object of unknown origin to ourselves. This takes the agents to Peru, where they come across and artefact using the teseract technology (see The Avengers and Captain America movies). After fighting off some rebels, the team and some Peruvian soldiers make it back to the plane, only for the Peruvians to double cross in order to keep the teseract for themselves. Agents of Shield

Last week was a little disappointing. It seems very hard to follow on the Marvel world without the huge budget to go with it. What we did like was the little nods to the phase 1 and phase 2 (Iron Man 3’s extremis storyline).

This week’s was a slight improvement, although the set-pieces aren’t as grand as they deserve. Another factor that brings the overall show down is that the film relies a lot on two scientists instead of kick-ass action heroes.

Look out for the cameo of Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson)at the very end of the episode – it was a very good addition and we hope that is a trend that continues with more of The Avengers. Iron Man anyone?
