Today Screen Critix is taking a look at nWo The Revolution for review. You know, it’s from a time when it was cool to watch pro wrestling.
Back in the 1990’s it was arguably the golden age of pro wrestling. It was cool to like WCW/WWF(now WWE). This documentary takes a look at the highs and lows of the WCW group “nWo”.
I must admit the entire documentary took a very tame look at behind the scenes. I imagine the drama backstage of WCW rivaled the televised product. I would of loved a more in-depth look at that!
What I did like about the documentary:
Opinions from Cody Rhodes and Joe Hennig. Their fathers were part of the nWo!
A look at how in the 90’s pro wrestling integrated into the entertainment industry. Jay Leno wrestling …. wtf?
The full scope of the nWo. From the raw (no pun) exciting origin to the downfall and demise. Even if it misses a lot out.
What I didn’t like:
Missing characters. Goldberg was surely a part of the nWo story?
Seemed rushed.
Not the definitive nWo story. I think another DVD/Blu Ray … maybe 4K disc? Will come out telling a more complete story.
Overall:
Great bit of nostalgia for people who watched wrestling in the 90s. But, nostalgia only goes so far and this doesn’t feel like the complete story.
