December 15, 2013 By Carl Burgess Leave a Comment

Sadly Peter O’Toole, the star of Lawrence of Arabia and Caligula, has died today in a London hospital. He was 81 years old.

With 93 television and film acting credits to his name, Peter O’Toole is a legend of no doubt. Having graduated in 1954 from London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts alongside Albert Finney, Richard Burton and Alan Bates, the Irish-born actor made a name for himself in the Oscar-winning film Lawrence of Arabia, for which he received a nomination. peter o'toole

O’Toole, like others from his generation, was also known for his boozy antics away from the camera, which led to stomach operations in 1975.

Peter O’Toole has played some parts in recent big films too, like King in Stardust, Priam in Troy and lending his voice to Anton Ego in the animation Ratatouille.

He died in Wellington Hospital after battling a long-time illness.

“Life turned out much better than I thought. I knew after a little while that I could act.” – Peter O’Toole
