timecopNot only was Timecop one of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s better films, but it was also his most successful financially. Released in 1994, the film had some excellent effect for its time as well as a decent story. Van Damme starred as Max Walker, a TEA agent who tries to prevent people from going back in time to break the law. He soon uncovers a plot by a senator who uses a time machine to buy up shares in the 1920’s so they are worth billions in the future, in order to help his presidential campaign. He also has to fight off the urge to go back in time himself to prevent the murder of his wife ten years earlier.

Now, a remake is coming, with the producers hiring Mark and Brian Gunn (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) to write the screenplay. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reboot will be dark and grittier than the original – closer in style to Looper.
