Just a couple of days after it was announced that Bennedict Cumberbatch will be voicing Shere Khan in the new The Jungle Book: Origins film, now the cast has grown spectacularly with Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett joining.
We have two films based around Rudyard Kipling’s legendary The Jungle Book; one directed by Jon Favreau and the other by Andy Serkis. Serkis, who is beloved for his performances as Golum in The Lord of the Rings, Caesar in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Kong in (erm) King Kong, makes his feature film directorial debut, even though he served as second unit director on The Hobbit for Peter Jackson.
Benedict Cumberbatch joined the cast to voice Shere Khan earlier in the week and now Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett have followed suit. Bale will voice the panther Begheera, whilst Blanchett will give life to the role of the snake Kaa.
The film is set for release in 2016 and will mix live action with motion capture and CGI.
Jon Favreau’s version will have a cast that features top talent such as Scarlet Johansson, Idris Elba and Bill Murray.
More on both versions once we have it.
