If rumours are correct, Paul Rudd will in fact be playing Henry ‘Hank’ Pym in Marvel’s Ant-Man movie, having agreed a deal.
For the last couple of months, the internet has been flooded with rumours regarding who will play the titular character in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man movie, which is set for a 2015 release. Apparently, the studio wanted either Paul Rudd or Joseph Gordon-Levitt for the role of the brilliant scientist who manages to change his size to become the super hero Ant-Man.
Now, The Wrap has stated that negotiations between studio executives and Rudd were successful and that the comedic actor will indeed become Hank Pym.
Rudd has carved out a career in comedy films and television shows. He starred as Phoebe’s husband in Friends and then moved onto films such as Anchorman, Knocked Up, The 40-Year Old Virgin, This is 40, I Love You Man and more.
Ant-Man will mark the first film to kick off Marvel’s Phase 3 after the release of The Avengers: Age of Ultron. It is as yet unknown what other films will join Ant-Man to make up Phase 3.
